10 月もついに最終日。園児たちが待ちに待ったハロウィーンです！それぞれが自分の好きなキャラクターや動物になりきってHKにやってきました。友達同士、兄弟・姉妹、先生たちみんなが自分の着たいコスチュームで現れました。ペアルックやたまたま揃った変装などでいつもと違う朝を全員で楽しみました。午前中はみんなで元町ショッピングストリートをパレードして記念撮影をしました。すれ違う人に”Happy Halloween!”と挨拶。午後は保護者の方々もパーティーに参加して、園児たちはゲームや塗り絵を楽しみました。帰る前には、ハロウィーン恒例の”Trick or treat!”と唱えてお菓子をもらって帰りました。

It’s Halloween! One of the long-awaited events for our students. We had a very exciting morning talking with everybody about what they were dressed as. Brothers and sister, friends, and teachers all wore their favorite costume for the day. We strolled down Motomachi shopping street in the morning saying, “Happy Halloween” and had a party with our families in the afternoon. The students concluded the day saying, “Trick or treat!” to the teachers and then went on to do their Trick or Treat runs for the year.

HK 元町の９月のテーマは『職業』と『制服』でした。社会ではどんな人がどんな仕事をしているのかを学んだ月でした。社会勉強と一環として、毎年お世話になっている加賀町警察署元町交番を見学しました。おまわりさんの警棒やさすまたを見せてもらったあとは、警察官の仕事内容の説明や日常からみんなに心がけてほしいことの話を受けました。最後は見学のために駆けつけてくれたパトカーの前で記念写真を撮りました。10月初旬は『職業』のテーマを続け、園児と保護者で横浜市民防災センターを訪問しました。HK元町としては今回が初めての訪問です。施設では、救急車両の塗り絵や防災マップのパネルなどをそれぞれが自分の好きなように見て触れる事から始まりました。それから大きいクラスと小さいクラスに分かれ、それぞれのグループで防災に関する説明を受けました。保護者と一緒に、消火器モデルを使った擬似消火体験や煙からの避難体験も行いました。また、「減災ルーム」では台風や地震など、ランダムに選ばれた災害から適した避難や減災の方法を学びました。大きいクラスは地震シミュレーターで過去や今後起こると予想される地震を体験しました。

It’s The theme for the month of September was “occupation” and “uniforms.” The kids visited the police box near HK to learn about what police officers do and were reminded of things they should watch out for in our daily lives. We also took pictures with a police car that they brought for the occasion! We continued our “occupation” theme into early October and visited the Yokohama-city Disaster Prevention Center. This was our first visit to the facility. The students spent time learning how to read hazard maps and coloring pictures of fire trucks. Then we separated into two groups of older students and our little ones. They experienced fire extinguishing exercises and escaping smoke with their parents. We also went through simulations of how to protect ourselves from random natural disasters as typhoons and earthquakes. The older students also went on the earthquake simulator to experience past disaster quakes and expected quakes.
